JoAnne was previously an advocate on RestlessLegsSyndrome.Sleep-Disorders.net.
I was officially diagnosed with a sweet little cocktail of neurological issues including Restless Leg Syndrome (RLS) in 2014. As I learned more about the disease I came to realize RLS symptoms were present in my everyday life as far back as the mid-1990’s. At different times they were more prevalent, such as during pregnancy and in reaction to certain OTC medications. During those early days the symptoms would always resolve themselves.
In time I began a new career as a woodturner and founded my own company. Part of my company’s mission is to promote awareness of RLS and other misunderstood neurological and auto-immune diseases. Providing support and helping others navigate the emotional and physical burdens RLS creates is important to me.
I live in Florida with my husband of 25 years, my daughter, one dog and two rescued cats. I hold two degrees in education, I am published in several Instructional Design journals, as well as an Instructional Design Handbook and I previously wrote a blog on the same topic. I am also in the early stages of developing a new blog named The Joe Show, which incorporates a variety of topics related to my journey through life with health challenges and my tactically chosen profession as a woodturner.
