"Frustrated, as current treatment is becoming inadequate."

  1. That sounds awfully frustrating. I wish you lived closer to a good neurological research center since your case is so unique. Know that we're here for you whenever you need support or a safe place to vent. - Lori (Team Member)

  2. Diagnosis and the onset of treatment goes back to 2015. (Insomnia goes back decades.) Pramipexole at least continues to control Restless Legs. To prolong its effectiveness, I was told to keep Serum-Ferritin optimum. Pramipexole doesn't control Periodic Limb Movement Disorder so that remains. My local Sleep Lab physician wasn't ordering Serum-Ferritin tests, so I quit her and had my Primary Care physician take over - only she didn't order the Serum-Ferritin specific test either, last lab, saying regular iron indicates I'm fine. I don't think it's necessarily so. I hope to enlist care at another Sleep Lab group, but I live in a rural area and the next nearest is an hour away. I also have ADHD and suffer from the associated transition delay from wake to sleep - typically it takes about 3 hours - then I awaken too early and can't fall back asleep. No medication tried so far has helped; I experience the opposite effect. Those supposed to cause sleepiness make me jittery and even less drowsy. One kept me awake all night. So yes, RLS is thankfully managed, but overall, insomnia is far from resolved in spite of plans prescribed at three separate sleep-lab facilities.

  3. Welcome to the community, ! We hear you. We can only hope that researchers have a breakthrough soon. Have you been diagnosed long? Are you at least on a good treatment plan for now? Best wishes. - Lori (Team Member)
