Vit D deficiancy and RLS

Hi People
I have suffered with RLS for many years and read recently that one cause can be Iron deficiancy so spoke to the Doc and he told me to come in and we will do all your bloods ( prostrate/liver/Iron etc. ).The only one that came back abnormal was Vitamin D for which I have severe deficiancy and will be starting to take a high dose oraly in the next few days. I did read some articles that a high percent of people with RLS have also been diagnosed with Vit D deficiancy but can not find any info wether there RLS symptoms improved once there Vit D levels became normal again (Maybe theres been no widescale tests yet). So my question is has any RLS sufferes on here had treatment for Vit deficiancy and there symptoms have improved.
Kind Regards

Lee

    1. Glad the articles were informative! Please keep us posted about how things are going after you've had some time with the vitamin D. There are so many possible triggers for RLS, but there are also many tools for coping and we are here to support you. -Melissa, team member

  2. Hi Lee ! I haven't seen any studies yet that show a direct correlation, but vitamin D deficiency is common with most all chronic illnesses. So, it's not surprising to hear you are low. Once you've taken it for a few days, you will probably notice you at least have more energy.
Here are two articles that explore the potential link between RLS and Vitamin D: https://restlesslegssyndrome.sleep-disorders.net/clinical/vitamin-d and https://restlesslegssyndrome.sleep-disorders.net/living/supplement-vitamin-d. I thought these might interest you.
I hope you get more input from others in the community.
Best wishes. - Lori (Team Member)
