My solution for restless legs

Occasionally I will be kept awake with a restless leg. It’s mild thank goodness certainly nothing like some poor people suffer and I read a fantastic description that says it feels like you have fizzy water in your veins. Spot on. It keeps me awake. My remedy, which always works for me is to get out of bed and do some strenuous hopping on the offending leg. Just in case anyone feels like trying it. Not for everyone obviously.

  1. Hello, it started a few years ago I guess and it remains a sporadic thing. I can’t even determine what sets it off either. My remedy was something I tried just off the top of my head. I can only imagine the horror of not being able to stop it let alone how strong it could be. It really isn’t until you have an experience of anything that makes you understand just how life affecting stuff can be. So many people’s stories on here make me realise that I really am quite fortunate.

    1. Hey there, Elsie. Thanks for sharing a bit of your story with us. 😀 I too am certainly relieved your RLS is minor. Still, it stinks to have to get out of bed and do the bunny hop. Though you're not alone. Plenty of our members are up stretching, walking and hopping along with you. Here's one example that might feel relevant:

One thing I do want to caution you about is exercising *too* much. Many people find that exercise too close to bedtime, or working too hard, can actually make the symptoms worse. It might take some experimenting to find where the line is for you.

  2. Hi . Welcome to the community! I am glad your symptoms are mild and that movement or exercise helps. I hope your RLS never gets any worse. Did this come on recently or have you been dealing with symptoms for a while now? Thanks for sharing what helps. Best wishes. - Lori Team Member
