Cyclizine wearing off to fast off

When I first started taking cyclizine, it would basically knock me out- it was fantastic, I'd take it and know no more.

This is no longer the case. I've often been a bad sleeper, in terms of dropping off (when I stayed in a hospital I think I got less than 3 hours most days) and this is returning. The nausea generally returns after just an hour or two.

How do people handle this? I was told by the doctor to take the cyclizine when I needed it, the problem is, if I start feeling sick, I'm going to be sick, so this doesn't work. Now, I take cyclizine with ropinirole.

So the question is, does anyone else have issues with it wearing off if you don't go to sleep fast enough? apparently you can have more cyclizine every 4-6 hours. Last night I tried to go to sleep around 12, gave up around 4 and went down stairs after a while I vomited several times, and then finally got 2-3 hours of sleep.

This probably happens once a month or so.

What do people think? Should I take a second cyclizine of I haven't dropped off after 4 hours, as standard - it's going to get out of sync, but never mind.

Sorry, a bit long. Eager to hear if others have similar issues and how to solve them

  1. Hi . That's a tough situation. If your doctor said you can take it every four hours, I would image it is okay to do from a medical perspective. Is your concern that the second dose will knock you out and throw you off schedule? If that is not a concern, you might want to give it a try and see whether it helps. Maybe you will at least get more than three hours sleep.

Is ropinirole actually effective in relieving your RLS or you getting more relief from being knocked out by the cyclizine? If the relief is coming from the cyclizine, then you might want to talk with your doctor about coming off the ropinirole and taking insomnia medication instead. Is that something worth considering?
