Quinine added to my toolbox

I've started drinking a small glass of tonic water (with quinine) before I go to sleep at night and have definitely noticed an improvement in my RLS
I have had RLS for over 30 years - it runs in my family, but last year it became relentless after becoming seriously ill and having to have my interthecral pain pump emptied of morphine and replaced with saline. Every night I would be awake about 6 or 7 times having to go downstairs or stand/pace up and down on a freezing cold floor. I was utterly exhausted and could barely function.
I did try the TW with Gin the first night, but I had the worst night ever with them (I think it was the alcohol that did it), so now I drink just TW.
I am also taking 150mg Pregabalin at night. I have been on Pregabalin for over 20 years for chronic nerve pain but the pain specialist increased my medication from 200mg a day to 300mg a day and I'm finding the 150mg seems to help at night for now.
I am praying that it continues to give me relief otherwise I will have to see a sleep specialist.
I also have CBD gummies (without THC) that I find help me if I have trouble getting back to sleep after waking with them.

  1. Never would have thought to try Quinine, that's super interesting 🤔

There's lots of discussion of foods that trigger RLS but not much for reduction of symptoms. I really appreciated this post ❤️

    1. Hi . I'm glad you found something that helps without having to increase your medication. What a frustrating and exhausting year it must have been. Do others in your family respond to similar treatments or have they found other treatments that help? I hope the quinine water continues to be effective for you. Thanks for sharing. Best wishes. - Lori (Team Member)
