Does anyone suffer from burning feet along with their restless legs?

In the evening when my legs start to act up, my feet will start burning like I have a sunburn on them and I was wondering if anyone else has this problem.

  1. I also suffer with RLS, burning feet and leg numbness. The RLS for over 25 years and the burning feet for the last 4 years. The numbness started about a year ago. There is one treatment that has all but stopped the RLS. Unfortunately, it is not one that most doctors will do. I have been going to Dr. Michael Valpiani for about 10 years. Recently. He has put me in treatment that has changed my life. It is microburst insulin infusion. It emulates what the pancreas should do. It takes 3 hours a week but more than worth it.

    1. This is interesting. I'm so glad you've found something that helps you! Can you tell us a little about how this treatment works to help restless leg symptoms? Do you also have diabetes or insulin resistance? Curious to know more if you're comfortable sharing. Be well! -Melissa, rls team.

  2. My husband experiences burning feet at night with RLS. I rub over the counter generic lidocaine cream on his feet wherever the burning is - it does relieve the burning so that he can sleep. Of course the cream is a temporary but effective fix.

    1. How awesome to have such great support from you, . I am glad the lodocaine is effective and that he is able to sleep, at least for a bit. Thanks for sharing what helps. - Lori (Team Member)

  3. I too experience "hot"feet, burning feeling, as if they are on fire. It began well over one month ago, where it kept me awake. I suffer from RLS for over 25 years. Interesting how one viewer mentioned it was neuropathy. I am extremely active, and the more active I am during the day, the worse the feeling is at night for me. It appears the feet and lower legs appear to be swollen too, something I will bring up to my neurologist.

    1. Hi . My foot also worsens with activity and swells. Even though I can't let socks or sheets touch it, wrapping a compression bandage around it helps tremendously. I hope you get some answers from your doctor and some relief. - Lori (Team Member)

  4. Hi . I don't have RLS, but I have nerve damage in my foot from a botched surgery and that is exactly how it feels when I have overdone it. Burning sensations are common for people with RLS and other nerve-related conditions. Is this a new symptom for you? Do you have RLS or do you have neuropathy in your feet from another health condition? I hope you get some input from others about this. I am certain you are not alone. Best wishes. - Lori (Team Member)

    1. I have both...I have had RLS for many years and have recently been told I have nondiabetic neuropathy but it has gotten much worse recently. The burning is extremely painful at night and now during the day, I cannot stand to have shoes and/or socks on due to the burning.

    2. Hi . Are you seeing a neurologist for your neuropathy? Given that your symptoms are becoming increasingly worse, you might want to request a thorough evaluation that includes an MRI of your lower spine. Too often, doctors treat the symptoms of neuropathy without looking for the cause. You need and deserve relief. - Lori (Team Member)
