frustrated with doctors

So just reaching out for opinions with medications, tricks, etc. I went back to my family dr. who doesn't have a clue about RLS. When I was on a recent trip I didn't take my 3 mg of Ropinirole because frankly it makes me nauseous. My step mom has a small does of xanax and said it does wonders for her. I took it and woke up and wasnt sick. Told my dr about it and she referred me back to my neurologist who has had me on different doses of ropinorole and pramipexole. I already take gabapentin as well. I take an iron supplement. She said well just short of cutting your legs off, i dont know what else to do for you. So now i have to wait for an appt to go back to the neurologist. Just so frustrated. Has anyone found something that works for them consistently? I feel like my body gets used to the medicine!

Thank you in advance

  1. I forgot to include this link, it's an article on here about different RLS treatment methods. I apologize if you have read it already https://restlesslegssyndrome.sleep-disorders.net/treatment

    1. Sorry for the late response.

I am sorry to hear that your family dr doesn't have a clue about RLS and doesn't know how to help you short of cutting off your legs. I am even more sorry that they actually said those words to you, super uncaring.

It's unfortunate that our bodies can build up a tolerance to medications. Pramipexole is definitely a medication that has a high risk of it.

I hope that the neurologist is able to help you.

As for tricks, I'm not sure what you have tried but sometimes I find dancing around can help. I don't know if medical marijuana is legal where you live, but it's something that helps me a bit (it's legal where I live).

      Wishing you good luck
