have been dealing with RLS for over 25 yrs and need help

I've been taking ropinerole 1 mg at night and it helps for about 6 hours --then the legs start up again--if I take another requip I am so drugged feeling Ican't get out of bed. I've also tried combining carpidopa-levodopa 25-100mg but that makes me feel even more drugged. I am wasting every day by sleeping way to much. Any advice would be grateful

  1. I to have had restless legs for more than 25 years. I take Ropinirole also. I feel useless so often. From the drug which I need to take 2x day even sometimes 1 1/2 at night. Most nights even after I take them I cry myself to sleep. The constant moving and they hurt so bad I can barely stand it. I can walk around at night but as soon as I go back to bed it starts again.

    1. Hi . Many people experience augmentation from Ropinirole, making symptoms worse. Here is an article about it: https://restlesslegssyndrome.sleep-disorders.net/augmentation. There are several other medications that might help. Have you ever talked to your doctor about trying something new? There are also some new devices on the market that have recently been FDA approved for RLS. Here is an article about one that sounds interesting: https://www.empr.com/home/news/medical-technology/prescription-device-cleared-for-patients-with-drug-resistant-restless-legs-syndrome/. I have no experience with it and I don't know whether insurance covers it, but maybe you can ask your doctor whether something like this is right for you. Warmly, Lori (Team Member)
