My family doctor prescribed Carbidopa/Levodopa on top of my Ropinerole.

Hi, I'm Brian. I've been taking Ropinerole for a few years now, and I'm pretty sure it has caused augmentation. Does anyone here have experience with Carbidopa/Levodopa? My RLS is pretty bad and it's affecting my life in many negative ways. Any input or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

  1. I'm sorry to hear you are experiencing augmentation and that your RLS is causing so many negative impacts on your life.

I have not heard of the medications you are inquiring about, I did a quick google search and it says they are a Parkinson's medication.

I had to change to Pregabalin when I started experiencing augmentation on Pramipexole for a second time.

I hope this information can help

    1. When I was 1st diagnosed they put me on carbidopa Levodopa. Then I read the insert where it says it can lead to Parkinson's, so they put me on Ropinerole. I'm at 3mg twice a day & it's getting worse after 23 years.

      1. I’ve been on Ropinerole for about 8 years and my RLS is much worse, too. I’ve been on a 1mg dose. I’ve be afraid to up the dosage but I’m having to take more because my RLS is more frequent. Thank you for your response.

      2. Keep the conversations going with your provider. You may want to take a copy of this medication article written several years ago by some of our experts. https://restlesslegssyndrome.sleep-disorders.net/medications

I know for me it took too long to find something that worked for me. I wished I had been a better self-advocate back then, but I have learned.!

Best wishes and let us know how it develops.

      1. What is augmented

        1. Hey there, augmentation is when certain medications that previously provided relief for RLS stop being as effective after a time period. Here is more information on augmentation if you'd like to read: https://restlesslegssyndrome.sleep-disorders.net/augmentation - Alyssa (Team Member)
