My Restless legs temporary medicationarticle

My name is Anrtony and this is my story.

My Restless legs article

Long time suffera of restless legs syndrome.

I found that each time I went to see my neurologist he was putting my medication up. I asked him if there was anything else we could do, he suggested that we keep the medication of Lyrica at 450 mg that lI was taking per day and he would break down the amount of Lyrica tablets into three different size tablets 75, 150 and 300mg. I can take a combination of tablets as long as I didn't exceed the 450 mg of Lyrica a day for my restless legs. I mix the various values of medication that I take in the morning and in the evening all adding up to 450mg of Lyrica per day, I have three formulas that I have come up with. I rotate them every week example below that I take for a week and change to the next group for the next week.
This kind of mix of medication 75 mg, 150 mg and 300 mg is working very well for me I also keept a record.

Total Lycia dose =450
per day

AM PM
A
75+150=225 Am&PM=450
B
150 AM & 300 PM =450
C
75 AM & 375 PM = 450

A 11-07-24. 1 week
C 04-07-24. 1 week
B 1😧6-24 1 week
A 10-06-24. 1 week
C 03-06-24. 1 week

By using the above system, it extended the use of the same medication for an extra 14 months making a total of two years with the same medication. Now it's not working any more.

After seeing my Neurologist recently he divert back to an old medication I was taking, Sifarol. He recommended that we start with 75 mg and if that doesn't work go to 150 if that doesn't work 300mg of Sifarol and not going over a total of 450 mg a day.

By changing the medication we hoping to have a better success rate until it stops working and then we might go back to Lyrica?.

I hope that the change to Silarol will last for a long time. When Sifarol stops working I will try using the rotating formula system I used with Lycia. I will keep you informed of my progress.

Best regards to everyone

Anthony

  1. Thank you for your good wishes Melissa. I think that the extension of approximately 13 months of medication without changing it and just rotating a simple formula was a big bonus for me. An idea that worked well for me and hope that it may assist others that are suffering from RLS

    1. Hi Anthony! So glad you decided to share your strategy here. Augmentation -- the state of becoming tolerant to some RLS medications -- is such a hard thing to avoid, even with our best efforts. I'm glad you found a routine that at least extended the usefulness of your Lyrica. It's a shame it didn't last longer.

I wish you the best of luck with Silarol and yes, definitely keep us posted. Firsthand experience is so valuable! -Melissa, team member
