Is pain one of your RLS symptoms?

Do you experience pain as a symptom of RLS? How would you describe it? What do you do to get relief? Share with us in this forum!

  1. I suffer chronic rls to the point it’s effecting not only me but my partner’s quality of life I’ve had this since my early 20s progressing worse river the years to where it’s actually effecting my arms and shoulders now .
For the first 10 years of it I had zero medication for it as I didn’t know what was going on until I finally got seeing a neurologist I have seen doctors before but done nothing for me we got working on some medications which at first seem to work eventually but have some devastating side effects I was in hospital for 2 weeks non rls related and forgot my medication but at the time I was on opioids for pain I was in and I wondered why my rls was not flaring up on me and the answer was the morphine was keeping it at bay with that info I talked with my doc some weeks after I released from hospital to maybe start a low daily dose of opioids to work in similar way to morphine and under strict supervision we started a course of targinact 5/2.5 oxycodyne/nalaxolon alongside daily requipe medication.
The relief was great and helped with any pain issues derived from rls 3 years later I’m still taking same medication and works fine however I do occasionally get really bad episodes and maybe have to take more of the meds 2/3 times a day for maybe 2/3 days til calms down again and everything goes back to normal again .

That’s my experience with rls and ways I treat it

    1. My RLS is quite recent and “attacks” my left lower leg. I was quite surprised to experience the pain and stiffness. I am exercising 3 times a day which really helps the symptoms. I’m trying to find relief to the night pain. The doc has prescribed a Med that targets nerves.

      1. Sorry to hear that RLS in painful for you. I am glad to hear exercising seems to really. helping with your symptoms. I hope the meds your doctor has prescribed are able to help you find relief to the pain you experience at night.

    2. This is a good question. Yes, I do experience pain with my RLS.
I would describe it as feeling like all the muscles in my legs have tightened up and are cramping at the same time. Other times it's a painful pin & needle sensation, like when your foot falls asleep but more painful.
For relief, I try to move my legs & I use Medical Marijuana.

      1. I too get a cramp feeling in the top of my feet along with the pins and needles feeling. I use diclofenac gel to help with this, as I have that for my RA as well.

      2. I am glad you have found that diclofenac gel is something that helps with that horrible sensation.
