RLS and Cancer Treatment

So happy I've found this community!
I've had restless legs for as long as I can remember. It got worse when I went through stressful periods of life and usually is worse when I'm trying to rest and wind down in the evening. It gets to the point when I cant concentrate on anything because my legs are driving me nuts!
In 2021 I underwent surgery for breast cancer. As the cancer was hormone positive, part of the treatment was hormone blockers. Wow didn't they make the RLS worse! I don't recall it waking me up during the night (though I do wake up 2-5 times a night), when I get up in the morning my legs are heavy and sore. I feel like I've run a marathon in my sleep.
Recently I've been undergoing diagnosis for adult inattentive ADHD which is a neurological disorder that is linked to low dopamine levels in the brain. Low estrogen (remember the hormone blockers) also effects the dopamine levels.
Now I find out that RLS can also be linked with low dopamine levels and so can menopause. It seems like its all linked.

I'd like to know if there is anyone else who has found cancer treatment making them worse?

  1. Welcome to this community, I am so happy you have found us!

I am so sorry to hear that you have breast cancer. I don't know if you know, there is an advanced breast cancer support group as well https://advancedbreastcancer.net/?_sp=552e4208-8ac1-4cdf-87fc-0f8cd83449bf.1679711078864

I am sorry I can't help you as I don't have cancer, there might be someone else on here who does though.

I wish you all the best
