New RLS sufferer

Hello, looking for some knowledge on this awful ailment please. I have had very rare occurrences of RLS on and off for years, maybe once a month. Then three weeks ago it started every night. Getting very little sleep, tossing and turning all night. GP has put me on pramipexole which seems to have no effect at all (taking it for two weeks now). My question is how long does this medication take to kick in? Many thanks

  1. Hi Richard, just want to check in and see how you are doing. Did your doctor rule out other possibilities, electrolyte imbalance, etc? Thinking of you. -Melissa, team member

    1. Hi . Welcome to the community! I'm glad you found us. Praximole should beginning working right away, but it can take a few weeks to get the full effect. If you are not noticing a substantial difference in another week, you might want to ask your doctor about trying something else or changing the dose. Here is an article about treatments: https://restlesslegssyndrome.sleep-disorders.net/treatment. I hope this uptick in symptoms is temporary and that you get some long-term relief. Warm wishes. - Lori (Team Member)
