Medication

What medications do you take, and how do they work? I've been on ropinirole since diagnosed, with the dose repeatedly upped. I believe I'm on the max of 4mg every night. My mother took it for years and then switched to gabapentin. I can't take gabapentin due to the side effects (it causes massive, all-senses nightmares and night terrors for me). Is there anything else you've tried that works?

  1. Hi . You are wise to start investigating other options, since ropinirole can eventually cause augmentation. I hope you hear from others in the community, but here is an article about treatments that you might find helpful in the meantime: https://restlesslegssyndrome.sleep-disorders.net/treatment.
Some people have found relief with some unusual alternative treatments, like charcoal/mint toothpaste used as a topical cream, or a tool that puts pressure on pain points or the newly FDA-approved Nidra device. You never know when you might stumble on something that helps.

    1. Thanks. I think the device would be difficult for me as I get it in my arms as well sometimes.
