I have suffered from RLS for over 25 years. I have tried every drug they recommend including two opioids at the same time along with other meds. For years I have told my sleep doctors and my Neurologist that my RLS started when I was pregnant with my 2nd child, but then went away after birth..my RLS then returned when I started menopause. I always asked if it could be hormone related and if I took hormones maybe it would help. They are disagreed. So I suffered…some times so bad I couldn’t sit or lay down for days. My Urologist prescribed the Estring for my UTIs. It’s a low dose estrogen inserted vaginally. Within hours of inserting the Estring, my RLS stopped. I am weening off my drugs and still no RLS. I am frustrated and angry that my Doctors were never willing to try hormone therapy. I know they say estrogen causes cancer, but in the UK, they have done studies and shown this is not true. Also, this is a very small dose of estrogen. I now have my life back. I had very severe restless legs for years, sometimes feeling like I just couldn’t face another day with it. I want to get the word out for ladies who have suffered with this to give it a try. It is going on a month now, and still no restless legs. I am elated.
