Side effects of Myrapex

I have taken myrapex for years now to alleviate my RLS. I am a gambler and through the years it has gotten worse. Now that you can just pick up your phone and go at it. I read some of the side affects for the medicine and one of these is increase "spontaneous need" for gambling. Anyone else have this issue with the medicine?

  1. Hi. I'm glad you have the awareness to recognize that the way you gamble is changing. There are so many factors that could be influencing that, so your doctor who prescribed the Myrapex is a great place to start. I would reach out to them by phone or patient portal so you don't have to wait for your next appointment.

It also might be a good idea to search for a counselor that is familiar with excessive gambling. They can help you figure out the best plan for moving forward ... and you might find you like having someone to talk to who can offer you support for whatever life is throwing at you. The website PsychologyToday.com has a big directory of therapists that you can sort by insurance and issue treated, including gambling.

Lastly, you can call or text 1-800-426-2537 if you feel like you want to talk so someone right away.

  2. Hi . Gambling is listed under the uncommon side effects, but, if you have searched online, I'm sure you have seen there are several lawsuits filed by people who believe Myrapex is responsible for their gambling addictions. I'm no expert, but I'm guessing that's because Myrapex increases dopamine levels and, anything that increases dopamine has the potential to increase complusive behavior, like gambling. It will be interesting to see what kind of feedback you get from the community. Did you gamble prior to starting on Myrapex? It might be worthwhile to come off the medicine and see whether that helps. Have you discussed that option with your doctor? It's scary how easy it is to gamble these days. - Lori (Team Member)
