RLS - Such a pain

I can’t even remember how long I’ve had RLS. I hate going to bed because I know it’s going to hit me. I’ll toss & turn, & kick my legs. I’ll even try leg exercises to get it to stop. I’ll eventually go walk circles around the island in the kitchen, then go sit in my recliner. I’ve recently started getting the symptoms in my arms & hands now. I didn’t know you could get it there. It’s also starting to occur during the day. My Dr thought it was one of my meds I was taking & told me to start taking half the dose. That didn’t help. The medication I’m on for the RLS is taking 2 tablets of 2 MG of Ropinirole at night. One at 6 pm & 1 at 10 pm. She said if cutting back on the one medication didn’t work, she was going to try the Gabapentin. I have to get up between 3:30-4am for work, which means I only get a couple hours of sleep, so I am exhausted. I also take magnesium and a sleep aid to try to help me sleep, hoping that will overpower the RLS.

  1. Hi . You must be completely exhausted. Is your doctor aware that Ropinirole can cause augmentation, making symptoms worse? Here's an article about it that might interest you: https://restlesslegssyndrome.sleep-disorders.net/augmentation. One major symptom is that RLS spreads to other parts of the body. If you are experiencing augmentation, lowering your dose might not be enough. Some people have to stop it altogether for a while and take other medications instead. Here is an article about managing augmentation: https://restlesslegssyndrome.sleep-disorders.net/living/tips-manage-augmentation. I hope this helps and that you get it all figured out soon. You need sleep.
